Amstel River

The Amstel River is the main river than runs through Holland's capital, Amsterdam and gave the city it's name, "Amsterdam" coming from "Amstel dam." The name, Amstel originated from Aeme stelle, the old Dutch for "area abounding with water"

The Amstel Brewery, which is named after the Amstel River, once used the river to cool the beer and even had used it's clean water to produce bear, once upon a time.
