2,500 year old brain

The brain belonged to a man who was at that time, between the age of 26 and 45. This brain is dated between 673 and 482 B.C., in the Iron Age.

It was found in an Iron Age farming site back in 2008 in York, England, with the skill intact with the jab and neck bones. This shows that the man probably died as he was hanged, then buried right after.

Some scientists think that the skull had been buried quickly in a pit filled with thick, wet clay, which eventually helped to prevent the brain from decomposing. Plus the low-oxygen condition of the soil might have helped as well.
